Mubito provides smart tools for music people. Our new online music
platform combines music and the Internet in a new way, creating a powerful
hub of online promotion and distribution for musicians and record labels.
At the core of our offering is a tool for musicians and labels to create and
manage their official music websites – including an in-built member
community, online shop, news, live events, and streaming media.
Our new product introduces a wizard that simplifies the creation and
management of official music websites into a few simple steps, and provides
access to promotion and distribution through our network.
Mubito is based in Sweden, a country at the top of global music exports and
known for innovative Internet technology, and we're recruiting a world-class
team to expand our business.

Role overview:

Mubito’s JAVA Development Manager has the overall responsibility for
planning and management of the development/integration and technology
support for the Mubito business, and directly manages a team of software
developers.

This role includes designing and implementing enhancements to the current
platform, planning and leading new development efforts, managing the
release process, and mentoring team members in technical and professional
skills.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to fill the role of manager as well
as be "hands-on" as required during design and development. This individual
should have a strong application architecture background. Aspects of the
leadership position this person will assume during full life-cycle of product
development are:

Interpreting product requirements specifications
Defining technical requirements and technical specification work
Coordinating and guiding research during product planning
Project planning and resource scheduling
Overall design and implementation guidance, documentation
Coordinating and conducting training as necessary.

The Java Development Manager will work as a member of the Product
Development management team, together with the Swedish-based Product
Development Manager, QA & Test Manager and Business Analysts. The role
reports to the CTO.

Responsibilities:

The Java Development Manager’s key responsibilities are:

Build, retain, and actively manage high caliber technical development
staff within the organization, including offshore development staff.
Track and manage all aspects of project and software release
activities.
As required, provide accurate estimates on future project
development, develop project schedules, define resource usage /
plans, and report on status.
Work with the business groups and Architect to develop system
requirements and technical specifications and manage/maintain scope
thru completion of projects / releases.
Lead application development team members in the detailed design,
development, code reviews, and deployment of components.
Work with the quality assurance group to ensure that all steps of the
development process are completed in a manner to achieve total
quality for the system.
Work with the appropriate groups to create and deliver all necessary
technical documentation and training materials.
Work closely with the other senior company managers to improve
processes and the cycle of product development to meet business
objectives.

Required skill-set:

The successful applicant will possess the following expertise and skills:
Good knowledge of Java programming (required) and C++/OO
programming (highly considered).
Working knowledge of object modeling tools (Rational Rose,
Together/J) and Use Case methodology highly considered.
Working knowledge of BEA Weblogic Server configuration, monitoring
and tuning.
Working knowledge of data modeling, schema design, SQL, JDBC.
Working knowledge of web standards (HTML, XML, CSS, XSL, DOM)
and API’s required.
The candidate must be team-orientated and to be able to perform in
an environment with a variety of development tools and adapt quickly
to new tools, technologies, and priorities.
Very good communication skills in English

Required experience:

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following
professional experience:
Have a minimum 6 years developing n-tier complex software systems
with significant experience in relational database driven web systems
3+ years demonstrated experience with project planning, and
excellent project management skills
Experienced in developing project requirements, functional
specifications, and detailed design documents
Experience in managing the full life-cycle of product development
Experience with staff/team management and planning
Experience with LINUX (Redhat Enterprise), SQL, Oracle, SQL Server,
HTML, and JavaScript preferred.

Location
