Websphere and jBOSS Administrator - Application Support Engineer: (MAIST)
Environment:
The EPO operates a mission critical IT environment including applications on IBM zSeries, xSeries and pSeries hardware
Three tiers architecture applications
Windows and Web GUIs
Unix (AIX)/Linux Application Servers and Portal Servers (Websphere and jBoss)
Mainframe (z/OS) CICS and DB2 Database

TMON, OMEGAMON, TWS, Tivoli Service Desk, ISPF,

Role:
This group Middle Tier Application Implementation and Support Team is responsible for the deployment and the daily support of applications in the middle tier layer of the EPO IT infrastructure.

The service provided entails:
• Technical Verification of changes to be implemented
• Daily and weekly installation to Production as well as Integration, UAT and OSA test systems
• Insure First level support for incidents on the middle tier applications.
• Liaison with development project leaders and infrastructure departments to coordinate
operation to be performed for the software to be deployed.
• Liaison with users representative for the validation of the software loaded.

Skills
Application Support Engineers must have a strong Operations background and possess
• Very good knowledge of UNIX and LINUX systems software
• Very good knowledge of Java and Java Application servers preferably Websphere and jBoss
• Very good communication skills, both orally and in writing, with technical experts and end users alike
• Ability to work within a team and under own responsibility
• Ability to work in a high pressured, multicultural environment
• Desirable knowledge of Mainframe environment in particular CICS, CTG and MQ
• Experience in similar function and/or environment
The working language is English though skills in French and German are highly desirable as is Education to degree level.
