Software Quality Engineer

Job Summary
Java's core value proposition and quality is ensured by the Java Quality Team.
The candidate will join a team of engineers responsible for analysing, executing and automating tests and customer applications for a wide variety of Java 2
Standard Edition (J2SE) technologies. The team is also involved in reporting quality status for every release and this involves developing metrics and measures for every release criteria.

Job Description
The candidate will join a team of Quality Engineers, working closely
with specification leads and other engineers in the J2SE organization. Analysis of various software defects found through both white anf black box testing. Execution of a variety of different tests on a variety of supported platforms and determining an intelligent test approach.
There will also be focus of defining customer scenarios or deploying customer focused applications to provide compatibility and avoid regressions.

A solid knowledge of the Java language and good exposure to Java
technologies is required. The candidate must be proficient in the
concepts of testing methodologies.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
================================
- 3+ years of experience.
- Hands on coding and debugging of problems where required.
- Knowledge of tools and test harnesses used in various quality functions
- Knowledge of commercial testing tools such as SilkTest and WinRunner a plus
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent is required (MS or equivalent preferred)
- Knowledge of Java/C/C++
- Excellent knowledge of Solaris, Windows and Linux.
- Strong scripting skills using PERL/TCK/shells or similar scripting tools.
